Yes, it counts with me. I have two very different employees. One is very honest. This employee will call in and tell me that they have a hangover and will be in late. The other one is not honest. They don't call in, and when they do come in they gave a lame "oh, I had food poisoning" (seems to happen a lot, maybe they should change where they eat). Now I know that the non-honest employee was seen out late at the bar the night before (small town, so not much way to hide it), and it makes me mad to get the lame and false excuse as to why they were late. I'd much rather have an honest employee any day.

Not really. When you think about it, honesty would only count if you got something for being honest all your life. And if god doesn't exist, then there will be nothing (known to man) to reward us for our honesty. We are survivors, and sometimes to survive, we have to fake it till we make it - know what I mean?

Besides, honesty can fu(king hurt!

Honesty matters, but sometimes you need to be tactful. If the world was full of liars (or even "polite" liars), then we would have chaos. Yes, I believe this 100%. But no one's perfect; sometimes people lie to save their a$$ or jobs, etc. I try my best to be honest most if not all the time.

Honesty really is the best policy. I've never had it backfire on me before. I used to be the biggest liar, even about stupid things. Eventually I learned it was better to be honest, even if it was going to get me grounded, because honesty leads to trust. Don't you want those closest to you to trust you?

If honesty doesn't count, nothing else will.
