MM is stil MIA...
Anyway, to add to what soop said you can also try mangroves. They can tolerate saltwater or freshwater and are really nice once they get to a decent size... Mangroves get really large so it would be good to have a tank with no lid and a lighting system that is adjuistable in hieght. Otherwise if you keep the specific gravity in the higher end like 1.015 ish than you may get away with some macroalgae.

Aquatic plants for the brackish aquarium can be something of a challenge as most freshwater aquarium plants do not tolerate salt.
I have a brackish tank and Hornwart has been working beautifully. Java Fern is also great.

~MM has not been around for a while. If he comes back, he comes back, if he doesn't we'll have to move on.
~Most freshwater plants will not tolerate brackish conditions, but the two you mentioned (Java Moss and Java Fern) cope extremely well with a bit of salt (most others will not, same with saltwater plants).
~Java Moss and Java Fern don't have true roots, but rhizomes instead, so they need to be attached to wood or rock instead of planted in the substrate.

The only thing that grows in my brackish tank are java fern/moss and anacharis. It's kinda ugly, but it gets the job done and it grows like mad!
