Didn't the war dept. give gold stars to be displayed in your front window if you lost a family member in the war?

No I don't think they did but I never got any gold stars till like 75 or 76.

Probably so because they still did after 1946

I got them in the 60s....and I wasn't even thought of between '42 and '46.

If they did it was in darn poor taste. I would hope they used some other form of "reward" than stars during that time period
