"What kind of dog is that?" Awkward situation...
We recently moved, and after I found out my ex lives about four houses down from us...
Ex as in ex boyfriend...
That was awkaward enough, and then tonight I was walking my pup, and his wife or who I thought was his wife asked me what kind of dog I had? To get my attention, yes... But why?
Once she got my attention she talked non stop , said she knew I was her boyfriends ex... OK, awkward... Small town yes, and what made it more bizzare is she is someone I know now is from my now hubbys highschool days...
OK, now why did she want so bad to talk to me? I have seen this coming several times over in passing ...
What if anything do you make of it?

Yes I did that on my way home I trailed through the dirt... We live in not a culdesac, but it is blocked off, maybie waiting to build more homes, but blocked off, other than a huge mountain of dirt... And yes to get home, it was dark and I trailed through it... When I come and go in my car, or check my mail there is only one way to go...
Just really uncomfortable...

Reading these really helped, I knew it felt strange in the moment... She even reached out and touched my hair...
I am a nice person, friendly Yes, but this was not friendly from her it was something different...
As to what, I am still not sure...
But my guard will be UP...

I would like to interview the ex's of my new boyfriend to find out what kind of problems they had in order to have the "heads up". Maybe I would not have to go through what she went through if I knew, for example, that he was a drinker. I could then make an informed choice about whether to be with this person or not. By the same token, I would like to know what his strong points are. There should be a LAW which gives us access to each others credit reports, bank accounts and the like. Sure would save a lot of trouble. ;-)

First off, how long ago were you with your ex?
Maybe she is interested in getting to know you, and your dh a little more(hopefully, no motives ~there~).
I am sure it was very awkward but I can't see what the harm is in talking to her(keep the personal stuff to yourself!), and maybe letting her join you for walks...unless she is the reason that your ex is your ex?
Lots of people like to check out what previous partners looked like..and compare themselves.

Obviously this woman is really insecure and your ex-boyfriend told her about you and where you live.She was just trying to feel you out and see what you look like and what kind of person you are under the guise of being a friendly person.You really have to feel bad for someone this insecure,because people like that do crazy things.Just be on the look out for this woman and keep your guard up when she is around.

Whoo boy that one sounds like it could open the proverbial can of worms. I would be cordial but keep it to small talk with this lady. No need to open wounds or rehash memories or gossip... just always make an excuse to cut it short with her and move along with your day.
EDIT: I would think twice about joining her on a walk.

It is natural for a woman to be suspicious of another woman who has been in her mans life in the past. She probably wanted to tell you that she was with him and would not appreciate you getting too close to your ex who is now her man. I think you would have had the same feeling if you were in her position, if not acted in the same way.
Just be cordial to her and you need not get too friendly with her.

there more then likely is nothing to it.. maybe shes just a nice and comfortable with her self to talk to you. me and my hubby's ex always got along then she passed away. i wouldn't think nothing into it. maybe shes just being neighborly. be nice back. good luck

I would avoid her. That is not normal to me to want to talk to an ex of my husbands. It's just too weird....

i think it is normal to feel awkward...
but if she hasnt say anything rude yet....
you should just make sure talk less about what happened between you and your ex or even you and your hubby....

Sounds like she wanted to see what you were all about for herself and make her own opinions. Either that, or she wanted to size you up and give you fair warning that she is in his life now.
