I just rented a new apartment that I will be moving into in January. This will be the first time I will have to pay for gas heating, and I have NO clue as to what that will cost me per month. Does anyone have any ideas?? It is about 830 square feet, and it is in the south (where it doesn't get AS cold, but still...) I had electric heat before, and my complex paid for our gas bills every month, so I have no idea what the costs are. Any suggestions, or ideas, would be greatly appreciated! I just want to know what I am getting into before I get into it! Thanks so much, in advance.

Electric is higher. If you have already rented how can you now get out of it. Keep the thermostat slightly below tolerance level. Wear something warm or extra cotton layer, and have a cozy comforter.

It is hard to say exactly how much it will cost. Every gas provider has their own rate.

Generally gas is cheaper than electric. In many places it is a lot cheaper. If you have a gas water heater in your new place you will be surprised at how fast the water heats up.
