I would say for men. They are too stupid to realize its the same show every week, only with a different illness.
example;
patient is sick
House insults them and pops some pills
other doctors give suggestions
house insults them and pops more pills
patient gets worse
House insults them
House flirts with pretty doctor
House insults her and pops more pills
patient almost dies
House comes up with a cure
pops more pills
acts smug
insults everyone

I gave up watching after a few episodes, couldn't stand him. He should go back to being Stuart Little's dad. Much nicer man.

Well, I want to agree with everyone and say it is written for both, but my husband only watches it because I do, and everyone else I know who watches it is female. So maybe it is intended for both, but I think it probably draws a larger female audience.

I think both really. For many reasons, but one that I think is a big one is in House himself. Guys love him because he's such an asshole, a cynical sarcastic sonofabitch who knows he's amazing. Haha. And I think women love him for sort of the same reason, but also because underneath all that, there's a humane aspect to it because he saves lives, because as much as he'd hate to admit it, he does care, etc.

House is crafted for people who like a good medical "whodunit". Pretty much ALL TV series episodes, with rare---and welcome--exception, are tinted for the "chick flick" demographic audience.
