There are no "extras" on Broadway. There is an ensemble for shows that require one and they are all phenomenally talented. Being an actor on Broadway is not something you just decide to do, it's something that people work towards for many many years, training in voice, dance and acting. Broadway chorus calls can be for Singers with outstanding voices or "dancers who sing" for dancers who've been training 10+ years and also sound great vocally.

The minimum for Broadway performers is $1541/week.

If you enjoy acting and singing and want to do it for fun for a while, check out your local community theatre. Pursuing it on a professional level is extremely competitive and cutthroat and because of all the rejection and time it takes going to auditions and training (and just basically not being on stage), it will not be fun for you if this isn't something you want to do as a career.

If you still want to explore opportunities, the Actors Equity website posts audition notices for both Broadway and Regional shows- www.actorsequity.org

They are not called extras on Broadway. Occassionally there are super-numeraries hired to fill crowd scenes. But I think they are hired through contacting talent agents.

I think you had better just try to get into some community theatre plays to find out if you have talent. If you do you will be assigned large parts.

It's very possible to learn to sing well. You just need to know the right methods. Learn here https://tr.im/WlTye

Singing teachers will cost money and can be expensive so they're not for everyone. Singing can be learned so it's not an "either you have it or you don't" kind of thing.

Whether you sound like crap or you're decent, I recommend this singing course. It's one of the best methods to learn to sing well in a short amount of time. It's all about using efficient techniques that work.

Try this mini directory racetrac: http://www.actingcareerstartup.com/extra_casting.html

Although they are heavy in film and television, you will also find some theatre extra casting there as well.

Good luck!
