Cambridge, Providence, or New Haven?

Which is the nicest, safest, cleanest, most diverse and most lively among these three American cities: Cambridge, MA, Providence, RI, and New Haven, CT ? Thanks a lot.

Providence is nice, safe and clean
Cambridge is diverse and close to metro scene.
New Haven close to NYC.

Providence definitely. Cambridge would be second place. I would cross New Haven off the list. I'm just not a big fan of Connecticut, lived there for a year and hated it.
