Question: Why do so many seniors seem to dislike things that they have never tried? Am I wrong?
Honestly, the older I get, the more I notice that people my age seem to be so very closed minded! I don't think they were always this way. Perhaps I just never noticed until I used this category! I am not posting this to be malicious or mean...I simply want to know if I am the only person who has noticed these things!

Oops, this was intended for the senior citizens category, along with my last 3 questions regarding seniors. Perhaps this category will give me better views!

Actually, I have to agree with her to a point. There are some who, all there life, will say, "I don't like that," and when asked, "have you ever tried it?" they say "no, and I won't because I don't like it." AND there are those who, the older they get, the less likely they are to try anything new. Try to get some elders to use the internet...good luck! AND, there are those, like most of us here, that are game for most things...at least once! Most of us have become more than just good at Internet, and we had to learn! I had to actually shame my best friend into using his new computer (given as a gift, hit it from the angle that he was insulting his friend by at least NOT trying...he finally agreed and it is hooked up..first step! And, I do not think this was a slam of any kind, it was a question with observation backing it..we all know people like this, so I am not so sure we should take offense..just my thoughts..love and peace, Goldwing

Well, I couldn't see the question, but from the discussion, I'll add my own two cents' worth. I'm pretty settled and set in my ways. I do pretty much what I want when I want.

My hubby is a Pennsylvania Dutchman, with hardly an ounce of daring in his body, so there are some things I just know we'll never do, at least not together.

We'll never go on a cruise, he will never fly to France with my sister and me to visit our brother and we'll never move out of this house until we're forced to do so.

It's not that I don't want to do these things, it's that I don't want to do them without him, and I know he won't. And I accept that, just as he accepts things about me that aren't perfect.

That was by far a gross waste of time, not to mention boring. I live in a senior community and we have some real interesting folks here, some wouldn't try anything new if their life depended on it. Others complain about everything and anything. I have friends like myself who will try anything new if it kills us, and probably will some day, but hey we all gotta go sometime we are just not ready yet. Want to see it? just type in that link yourself and hit search web.

Couldn't see it either, but Isotope's answer helped out there. Just found out last night that a certain member has blocked a number of us so I'm assuming it must be her. Can you say who posted it?

By the way, glad that you're feeling better, Jilly.... and it's good to see you back on. Maybe you can whoop things here back into shape!

I've been blocked too.
To answer her question some..... I've never been the adventurous type. Nothing to do with age. My husband is quite adventurous and has pushed me into trying some new things and many have been good experiences. There will always be some things that I will never try.

What is the link? I could not view it, and I am curious. I thought it might be the one Gladys figured out for us yesterday where you click on your own profile by clicking on it.Actually, at this age in my life, I am more willing to try new things than ever before.

Somewhat true -- I CAN be closed minded about some issues, not necessarily due to age as much as personality.
Always been bull headed, but it's probably more apparent with age when I keep fewer opinions to myself.
