When I was in high school, (this is kind of a long story with a short ending...) I was given an assignment in English class to write a spoof of a children's story or fairy tale. Well, I did Snow White, and I did it so well that I was asked to do up a few more just for the teacher's gratification, so I followed 'em up with Cinderella, Hansel and Gretel and The Wizard Of Oz, which I retitled The Lizard Of Odd.

Anyway, Dorothy receives a traffic citation for having illegally landed her house in the Land Of Odd, and it did cause the death of one individual, (that being the Wicked ***** Of The East,) and so Dorothy had to make her way to The Mother Of (Minnie) Pearl City Courthouse to see the Lizard Of Odd about entering the plea and paying the ticket.

Now, The Wizard Of Oz being a musical and all, I had to include a musical number, so I put it in during the time in the story when Dorothy is kidnapped by the Wicked ***** of the West, and seemed to the Scarecrow and the Tin Man to have disappeared. And the song went something like this:

(Start with the Scarecrow facing forward, the Tin Man facing the other way.)

You came to us from some different nation,
And freed us from the Witch of the East.
Since you've been here, life's been a vacation,
But now it seems your presence has ceased.

(Turn around Tin Man...)
Where, oh where are you tonight?
Why have you left me here all alone?
I searched the world over and thought I found true love.
You met another and Pbpbpb, you were gone.

So to answer your question, I think of my Lizard Of Odd story whenever I think of Hee Haw.

The first thing that comes to my mind is Junior Samples and his car sales skits with the phone number BR-549 (usually held upside down).

Also coming to mind... "Hey Grampa what's for supper?", The Hee-Haw Honeys, The Gospel Quartet, and the list goes on...

Gloom, despair and agony on me!

I'm with October, Grandpa Jones, and Minnie Pearl as well, with her hat with the tag on it. Not to mention the random jokes where they pop up from a cornfield then go back down
