well, think about it, the bush administration has tried to get google to give them access to their servers and so they can look at what everyone has been searching. so they can find "possible terrorists" now you tell me is that freedom? i don't think so... also why are so many artists beins censored for their art? wheather it be music, paintings, writings, or even films. rights that we're supposed to be granted under the first amendment. its not freedom, its limited, and some poeple have the nerve to say that we have more freedom than most countries, so we shouldn't complain. i say screw that! we should complain because if we submit to this then there's no telling what we will submit to in the future.

We do have some freedoms. Freedom of speech, as long as no one gets offended, freedom of religion as long as it is a religion accepted by the "moral"majority, freedom of thought, just don't say it out loud. Other than that we are merely indentured servants. We have rights which are trampled on regularly, our government once"by the people, for the people" has become a whore which sells out to the highest bidder and buys things like bombs and justified terror instead of research, education and universal healthcare. You're question is simple, the answer is not. We are only free as long as we keep electing the idiots and pay our taxes on time and dont get too enraged and start a much needed revolution!

We have a free will and rationale to take charge of our own lives. We are all creators capable of the means for our physical survival -- we grow food; build houses; manufacture trains, planes and automobiles; write novels, screenplays and business plans; discover cures for diseases and the secrets of the universe. Our most important creations are our moral characters and intellectual habits, and an understanding of the need to rein in the government and return it to the limited purpose of the first foresighted Founders.

I am rating this question from Australia, and by judging the political implications we share in common, I believe the US is on a downhill slide. None of us are truly free, we must pay taxes,etc/etc, and are usually beholding to Big Brother to exist.

The fact you can ask this question should serve as an answer. You have a wide range of freedoms and yet so many people cry that they do not.
Until you learn to enjoy freedom and not take it for granted, you are not free. Make sense?

Hiya..
No you are not free although there is an illusion of freedom around your and your peoples..
Like so many in our world you are subjected to control, conditioning and manipulation..very often subtle but nevertheless real and constant.
I doubt if there are many truly free people in our world .. and in much of the world..especially the Western world..there is a great deal of opportunity.. which is of course very different from freedom.

well we are a hell of alot freer then just about all the other countries. we have many things in this country that other countries have except our version is usually more stable. our legal system may not be great, but its better than most. we have rights such as protesting, speaking freely, stuff like that. to some it may seem that we are not "free" but its just because we are just more stable than other countries and some of the drawbacks to stability is what may seem like a loss of freedom, but open you eyes and look around, other countries are dealing with tyrants , drought and famine. our problems are bad too, but still not as bad as others, thats when stability and a "loss" of freedom come in... thats just me though

Nobody is truly free, especially here in the U.S. Laws are becoming way too conservative. The biggest losers in the War on Terrorism are our civil liberties.

I can't answer you either yes or no. As an American, you yourself can answer that. But I'd like to share you of what I have heard about freedom... 'freedom are for birds and bees.'
