I would say there might be a statute of limitations. Had you filed yrs ago for support and never got it......then you could chase the father down for it now. I wonder if a judge would take into consideration, you never filed for support, she's raised now, why are you wanting it now? I know a lady, her husband isn't her oldest son's father. He's raised, this gal and her husband both worked and are good people. Can she go after child support? I guess maybe she could but, if I were a judge and she came before me.... I turn her down. Yes it took alot of money to raise him but why now? what's your motive now? Why didn't you go after it yrs ago?
Joyceel has no clue what child support is!! It's not money that goes into a child's hand. It's to cover the cost of housing, electric, gas, water, food, ect All the things it takes to care for a child. The parent is out the money for doing that.....not the child. Any judge that would give the money directly to the child is dead wrong on where the funds should be directed.

As a former employee for CPS, I,ve seen women just like you come forward after many years from behind closed doors trying to seek money, assets, whatever they can for back child support, and sorry to tell ya but your about 7 years to late! But if you filed any paper work prior to her turning 18 years old, or if she attended college till turning 20 it is possible, but you need a paper trail, and what I mean by a paper trail is, did you file a claim for child support under her bio-fathers name? If you did it would be legit, if not, forget it! You will be laughed at. So my advise is move on and get over it, this man got lucky! And why didnt you collect from him years ago their was a chance of receiving money? Waiting this long only made him not obligated to his responsibilitys as a parent, so now he walks, not a wise move on your part.

Depends where you live. If you never got it your daughter might be able to collect it. If she is in college especially. You will not get a DIME probably but the kids the important one anyway. If you live in TEXAS you have a real good chance of getting something back. They are sticklers in Texas about child support no matter what age. If he owes you $ 200,000 or more they will put him in jail till he pays no matter what. They don't mess around in Texas with anyone. You should call child services or the Attorney Generals office in your state to find out. GOOD LUCK !!!

Apparently the child was never with her father. It's a bit late...like a quarter of a century late to ask for child support.

Some states allow back child support to be collected regardless of age. Others have a statute of limitations. You should look into your state's laws.

What do YOU want child support for now? That's sad, because you look like a money-grubber, but if you raised your daughter without it, then you obviously aren't.

YOU can not get child support at all, Your daughter will be the one who can go back and sue him for child support for back payments but it would go directly to her..not you!
