Principally the Marconi company, which was the major player in the radio business in the early years. His big achievement was the first successful Transatlantic communication by wireless in 1901. Most of the technology had been worked out by Hertz before this, but Marconi put the stations in Ireland and Newfoundland together and made the whole project work. If I remember right, he sent the letter "S" in Morse code.
He also hired David Sarnoff, as a wireless operator in New York. It was Sarnoff who was at the key for many hours, receiving messages from the Cships regarding what Titanic survivors they were bringing into New York. He later founded the Radio Corporation of America (RCA) and the National Bisquit (sorry, Broadcasting) Company (NBC).

He created the science behind radio broadcasting, which very suddenly altered the way that everybody lived.
In 1920 there was almost no radio broadcasting, and people only learned about what was happening in other countries from their own newspapers. The newspapers had reporters in other countries who sent in their stories to the head office by telegraph cable, rather like a big text message. Any photographs had to be posted, so they were weeks old by the time they were published.
Compare this with 1925, by when people could listen live every day to reporters from foreign places, and newspapers could receive radio-transmitted pictures and publish them within 24 hours. All of a sudden, everybody knew that they were now a citizen of the whole world, not just of their own country.
If you possibly can, talk to somebody nearly 100 years old, who first grew up without radio and can remember what a huge difference it made when it began to come into their lives. In another 10 or 15 years it will be too late to hear any such first-hand memories of the biggest change in our society in the last 500 years. Yes, I know about computers and the Internet, but they are just like high-speed radio.

Marconi discovered radio waves and learned to produce them. He dramatically changed how people lived as before television people used to listen to the radio. (His creation) Prior to radio they had to entertain themselves anyway they could, usually live performances and story telling.
