I did badly.

"Bad" is an adjective describing a noun. For instance, bad dog, bad food, bad hair day.

"Badly" is an adverb describing a verb. For instance, I feel badly, she acted badly, he played the violin badly.

As GM noted --- "poorly" really does sound better anyway ;)

Well, that depends. If you are speaking of doing something badly, that is if you are using the word as an adverb, it is badly. If you are speaking in a less formal manner and you are referring to having done a bad thing, you might use the phrase "I did bad".

Say you took a test and you think you did not do well. You might say to a friend, "I think I did badly on that test."
Or if you if you hit your little sister and you are confessing to your father, you might say "I did bad."

I DID BADLY. Badly is an adverb which describes a verb. to do is a verb (did the past tense of it). so in order to describe a verb you would use badly. Bad is an adjectives. Adjectives describes nouns. bad hair, bad eyes. Hope that helps.

If you were bad then you behaved badly. The "ly" is added to modify the verb. So I am a poor typist and I type badly.

Just for fun, loocheck out the words "good" and "goodly".

Badly is used once you're telling the style you do something. undesirable is used once you describe some component, as a noun. occasion: whilst i'm drained, I carry out badly. occasion: i actually did not appreciate that action picture...it substitute into undesirable.

I did bad. if there's more to the sentence you'd probably use badly.

Badly, I suppose, since it's an adverb, hence describing a verb (in this case "did"); it's really kind of an awkwardly worded statement anyway.
