When finished with a super grungy job or crumbling. In between these times, toss them in the washing machine (not in the dryer).

I have seperate sponges for different "jobs". I keep one in the bathroom(s).. I also have one to wash dishes and another to clean the countertops... I usually run them all through the dishwasher every night or every other night.. I also rinse them out really good with HOT water and will sometimes microwave them for a min or two.. Just be sure they are damp so they don't catch fire... I keep my sponges roughly 2-3 months or until they fall apart !

Depends on how rough you are with it-for cleaning. I learned a tip from my sister-you can throw sponges in the washer when you wash towels-just don't put them in the dryer-they come out really hard and dry. They should last about a month or so (maybe longer) that way.
Take care.

You can keep them as long as you like but I throw mine away every 2-3 weeks. Also microwaving them for 1 minute kills 99% of the germs and microwaving them for 5 minutes kills all the germs. I do that every few days or after I have wiped something that had raw meat on it. Hope that helped.

i keep mine until it is basically unuseable. I put it in the dishwasher once a week to get rid of the germs, this is highly effective. also, you can wet it and put it in the microwave for 10 seconds to rid it of bacteria. This was in Good Housekeeping mag.

Well... You never really have to throw out a sponge if you clean it of bacteria every once in a while. Unless it's torn in half I would much worry about it.

I use mine until they are about worn out. I put them in the dishwasher regularly to keep them as germ free as possible.
