Dr. Who....scary? Hardly. Hip, fun, sci-fi whiz-bang cool and campy??? Yes! I think you'll like it--give it a whirl.

Dr. Who was a 1960s BBC television creation; a British offering of hip science fiction. The classic original episodes are revered by sci-fi purists as being geniusly crafted.

In early 2000 a U.S. TV production effort was made for a Dr. Who comeback, tapping The Who front-man, Roger Daltrey for the lead role. Daltrey, graciously flattered, declined--opting instead to focus on a The Who world concert tour.

Only the pilot episode of the U.S. effort was made....but as any Dr. Who fan knows....you can't call the Doctor out just yet......

Some 40 years after the originals were aired, the BBC retro-produced the "new' Dr. Who series, featured w/ help via Sci-Fi Channel. And given today's whiz-bang cool special effects, Dr. Who is making fans each night the show airs on TV!!!

Scary? I wouldn't say so. There is only three episodes that scared me. Two of them were a two-part episode "The Empty Child" was the name of one. It involved people having gas masks as faces and a child saying "mommy, mommmmmmmy" over and over, which turns out to be creepy when it comes from a gas mask. But it has a good ending. It's from season one. The only other episode that truly scared me was "Blink" from season 3. It involves an ancient species that can't move if anything looks at them. But if they're really fast, so if you blink they can attack you. What they do is if they touch you, they send you back in time and "feed" off the years you would have lived. The only scary parts are when people do blink, and the angel stones move into a very scary and unexpected way. Other than that, it's really not very scary, more suspenseful than scary, really.

no It is not scary. Though I have seen some of the series that were quite scary. Like those angels that always hide their face. It really gave me goosebumps. But for the most part it is just a Sci fi show that is actually pretty good and alot of times funny.

Its a safe kind of scary, but if you watch the one with the statues, turn off before the end - just after Sally hands the packet over to the Doctor (I won't say any more in case I spoil it). My son was fine til then, but the last couple of minutes did scare him.

He's nine.

It's more creepy than scary - there's no blood, no chainsaws, no axes.

The only scary thing about Dr Who is the Daleks. That';s the only thing that ever scared me. I guess it's cos they're like Robot-zombies. And they have that high pitch scream of "EXTERMINATE!!". So if you're watching Dr Who, make sure its a Daleks episode.
