If you have seen a woman at work, and just have her email address as her only contact information, and want to be her friend and don't want to seem like a stalker, what would you do? send her an email or add her to your messenger telling who you are or saying you are another person and wait until she gets confidence and then tell her who you are?

No, do not add her to your messenger list. I do not like people doing that to me, especially if I do not know them. I agree with the first answer. Talk to her personally. Get to know her as friends first. In person is so much better than email or IM'ing, especially without permission.

Never never lie. If you want to get to know her better, it is not a good idea to lie about who you are. That is a big turn off. Smile and say hello to her in person. Bring some food in for your colleagues. She may eat some too. Snacks are a good idea.

Honesty and communication are very important in any relationship. Friendship or otherwise.

Since she sees you at work then it would be a game and appear like you are stalking her. So start off by saying hello to her and if she is friendly then ask her to lunch after a few days or a week. Then you will know if there is chemistry or not.

I think it would be best to be honest with her. If you started out wrong, do you think she'd have a good impression of you? She would think you are untrustworthy instead. And worse, maybe a stalker.

So, just tell her who you are.. Better yet, talk to her personally. There might be some way, like in a canteen or whereever. Just say "Hi", and let it flow. Let us know how it goes. ^_^

I wouldn't play it as someone else and I wouldn't add her without asking (since you are intimately interested). Why not just talk to her at work? Ask her out for a coffee or something. Then she'll probably give you her number and/or e-mail.

What the hell? Is she older than you or your superior or something? Why can you not just go up to her or, if shy or geeky, just arrange a bump into meeting and get to know her like that? That e-mail idea sucks, I know from experience. If you are that intimidated by her, you should just leave that alone.

I would email her and Instant message her if you can, I dont think she will feel your a stalker if your not always trying to talk to her but keep it cool and meet her through email and stuff then ask her out to places sometimes and from there it should get better! Hope this helps! :)

Well, first, I'd talk to her in real life.
If you don't like her, and only want to be friends that is. If you just talk to her on the internet, it will create an awkardness when you talk to her at work in person.

question, once you send her a message can't she find out who you are? don't send the e-mail, sounds like a MAJOR STALKER move.... Just grow some KAHUNAS and start a conversation...

Talk to her at work, it shows that you have confidence :) Just be like, "Hello, I work as a(n) X and my name is X."
