or will a message from the company come up saying it has been disconnected?

2007-11-05 14:38:52 · 17 answers · asked by whateva 1 in Consumer Electronics Cell Phones & Plans

I know it sounds stupid but I was told the phone was disconnected from my cell phone company yet it still rings and rings and then says the the wireless customer is not available. I'm not stupid I just shut off service on my abusive ex's cell phone that was on my plan and want to make sure it is off.

once you change or have a phone disconnected from a provider it will not receive a call. But if you keep the battery charged up it will work for 911 calls in a emergency, hopefully it has GPS on it or your use to talking in a emergency.

Also note, emergency call on a cell phone are routed to the state to dispatch, the they send you to the next level and you get to tell them the same thing again. If you know the area it is easier to say, I need the local police in Everett, WA for example, then you will be ask what is the problem and they will be already connecting you to that city PD.

Have fun in life and be safe

No, it will not ring when someone calls. There will be a message from your provider telling the caller that you are unavailable or it is no longer in service. No phone will ring if it has been disconnected, that's what disconnected means: no service!!! If you want your phone to ring, then you probably need to pay your bill!!!!!

Uh DUH how is a disconnected phone going to ring it wont have any service to it. Its just like a house phone it will say "the number you are calling has been disconnected or is no longer in service if you feel you have reached this message in error please hang up and try your call again" some cell companies say "the wireless customer your trying to reach is not available" and then it hangs up

sometimes if you dont pay your bill for a short period they will allow calls going in, but you cant call out. but otherwise, no they will say the number is not in service. the only thing you can do with a cell phone with no service plan is call 911. its a law that all cell phones whether they have a service plan must be able to call out for 911
