Castor oil does not always work, but when you decide to take it, it is imperative that you follow prescribed directions from a midwife. Castor oil, like any form of natural or unnatural induction, will not induce every woman, especially if her body is not ready to go into labor yet.
The dosage recommendations vary so much but most of the midwives I know base the dosage on around 4tbsp - but then repeating it 3 or so times, every 4 hours. It can precipitate labor very quickly, but can also put an un-ready body into a slow and unproductive labor. If you can wait longer, I would try.
If not, wait until morning to do it. Labor is long and tiring, and you are going to want a night's sleep behind you before you jump into it.

How dilated? There is not any method of realizing, Castor oil is most of the time no longer amazing and most of the time handiest reasons the indications you will have been experiencing. At 39 weeks technically you COULD nonetheless have one other three weeks, sorry! It could be very typical to be rather dilated and most of the time wholly effaced as much as two-three weeks earlier than supply, certainly if it's your first.

First of all, it's not a myth. BUT castor oil is not used to induce labor it is used to move labor along. Castor oil causes your stomach to contract, causing cramping, which could hopefully trigger your uterus to contract more. Meaning you should already have contractions, faint as they may be, to use the castor oil. If it works, you will have stronger contractions thus moving the labor along. But like I said, it doesn't always work though. That's why people think it's a myth.

I took 2 tablespons and waited an hour and i was in labour. But now that i have done it i have seen what can happen and i wouldn't recommend it to anyone. the baby can poop inside you and make your amniotic fluid get meconium stained and the baby can get ill from it so don't take any more and you will just have to wait but go and get a burger from mcdonalds it worked for everyone in my family

castor oil can cause the baby to have a bowel movement... i'd be careful taking it.
i know several woman who have taken it though and all they did was get the squirts for 2 days. it can take up to 6 hours for everything to get moving.
have patience. rushing it can cause problems. let the baby come when he or she is ready.

Are you serious, that baby will come when it is good and ready. The only person that should induce your labor is the doctor, cuz they know what they are doing. Do you realize that you could put that baby into shock or your blood pressure could skyrocket. I pray that you and that baby are going to be okay. If you happen to go into labor soon, be sure to tell your doc what you did, God forbid there be any complications.

Even if doc says it's fine you run the risk of taking that and causing throwing up or bowel movements and cause you to get dehydrated...when you get dehydrated it can cause you to have contractions..(that's why they say if you feel you are having contractions to drink water)...anyways even if it happens to put you in labor you do NOT want to be dehydrated when you go in.

Oh my goodness, you actually believed that B.S., the baby will come out when it's ready. I tried all of that stuff when I was preggo with my first, just imagine my disappointment when I had to have a c- section! It doesn't work, and I believe it can actually make things worse.

Stop it. Have patience. Your baby will come when he or she is ready. No more castor oil.
You haven't gotten diarrhea and vomiting - count yourself lucky this time.
