How do you factor out the GCF in the following polynomial?

7(x+6)+2a(x+6)

GCF is obviously the (x + 6)

(x + 6)(7 + 2a)

The GCF is the largest factor that both have in common, which in this case is (x + 6). You don't have to know what X is because whatever it is, it will be the same in both parts of the polynomial.

(7 + 2a)(x + 6)
