.....nothing out here but animals and the dark starry night.......and honestly, if someone really wanted to break in they would find a way despite any locks i would turn to keep them out....i even fall asleep with the door open and just the screen there sometimes in the summer.

No. I grew up in the woods and now I am in a decent sized city. I lock it when I leave but not at night. I refuse to live in fear. And good luck for the person that wants to break in.

I will lock the door when a girl comes over. Never know when my mom will just walk in. Now THATS scary.

I also live in the country and about ten years ago, never had to lock anything (unless we were leaving the property for a while - live on a farm). But now, we lock everything up tight, day or night, home or out. Sad world today.

I live in an apartment and Yes I have 2 locks, a chain and an alarm that connects to the door and the door frame ( that I forgot to disconnect once when I left in a hurry one morning) Those things are freaking loud.

Your lucky !! My doors are always locked. I live in the city and you'd be pretty stupid not to keep your doors locked. Even with your doors locked you better not open it to strangers we've had home invasions where they come in and beat you up and steal your money and anything else of value!! They usually go after seniors and Chinese with lots of money living in multi million dollar houses!! I'm hoping to move to the country as soon as I'm able!! Good question!!

Sometimes - I mean I guess there's really no downside to locking everything - but at the same time is kind of untrustworthy - but I do it just about 5 of the 7 days a week - I usually forget to at least once, and I'm usually to tired to go around at least once.

I lock all the bars on the windows and doors. That place is locked up tight and I live in the country too.

I can't go to sleep unless I make sure the door is locked before I go to bed. Even if I lived in the country... The hills have eyes you know

If i lived in the country i would definitely lock the doors at night. its so secluded, and anyone would be able to enter your home and rape you and stuff. But i live in the city. i do lock my doors at night. Its not that i live in a bad neighborhood, its just that i believe that people are evil at heart. It is only because of laws and punishments that most people restrain themselves.

You are very fortunate to live in such a peaceful location. I envy you in that respect. I never locked anything until I moved away from home. Somehow in the city, you just instinctively lock everything.
