Does your percentage of best answers really mean that much ~see details below~?

or are you on here for the love of answering questions and learning new things? Is this more a game to you reaching for the top level and points.?

Well what I try to do is offer the best that I can in my answers & explain as much as necessary. I spend more time answering each question thoughtfully with appropriate spelling & grammar, while making it as comprehensible as possible to the asker.

Many answerers on here with hundreds of thousands of points simply spend time answering as many questions as they possibly can to maximize their "output of points" & rack up as many as possible to compete with one another.

& furthermore, I think the percentage DOES matter because that's what separates you from the other person that answers with three words .. you take the time to make sure your answers are organized enough to the point where you can rightfully get a best answer.

I like to answer questions when I think I can really help, or if my opinion or answer is really different from the others. Sometimes, when I get to a question and someone already has a good answer, similar to mine, I will just check a thumbs up on their answer and move on. I do like intriguing questions, and don't have a lot of room in my heart for "poll & survey" stupidity! Some questions there seem to be valid and insightful, while others appear to be a waste of my time. I do like to do the happy dance when I get a best answer, but it means more to me when it was "chosen by the asker" because that is the purpose of this site. As for the contest of "who has the most points", I would rather be a level 3 with 75% best answers than a level 7 with 6% best answers. There is very little room at the top, and I believe I do not have enough spare time to ever get there! Great question by the way, it's kind of similar to--why are we here?

Many, many questions, I have no, or little opinion on, and bypass these, without answering. On the questions that I have knowledge, experience, I answer the best I can using knowledge, gained through experience and my observations.
It is nice to receive 'best answer', but I am here to provide some 'wisdom? that I have, and maybe help someone else not make the same mistakes, I have made.
At near 70 years young, and been around the world and USA a lot, ( I do not 'waste' time watching sports, I study what ever strikes my fancy) I hope that some one can benefit.
Points? nahhhh!, Level above 3, nahhh!!
Knowing that someone has been helped YEHHHH!!!!

I am here to meet new people, learn things that I did not know, and help others when I can. The points are just a bonus! I think it is a little competitive, and that is what some enjoy the most. I just come here to have a good time, making friends out of this is just another plus!

well from today i have been on here for 1 week and 1 month i have 100 best answers and 6% best answer

but i really do not mind i just love answering questions

i just love to answer peoples answers so i can give them my two cents and if i can help in any little way i would be pleased as well i dont care about points or stars or none of that i care more on what's on peoples minds

I enjoy most the interaction and learning. I think Y!A would interest me just as much even if there were no kudos to chase.
