Yes, but the question is do you want to work at McDonalds or do you want to work for Mcdonalds? I think a lot of people who answered previously only think of the storefront. Remember that this is a worlwide company. They have to have a corporate headquarter somewhere. Marketing and accounting must be done by someone. so I would say yes you can have a future in a proffessional setting if you so desire, but think bigger than your local store flipping burgers.

True, it depends on what you want in life. When your younger you can always start out at mcdonalds and be ok, and then after time if you are still there hopefully you have moved up to a manager or something, and yes you can make a living there. it just depends what position you are, and how many hours you get.

Depends what kind of a living you want to make ....do you want to share an apartment with your buddies...Then you might be able to do it. I think Mc Donalds Managers may make a little more, so you could make a living ....
1) Do you plan to have children
2) Do you plan to own a house
3) New Cars
4) Vacation once in awhile?

I am not sure what your lifestyle is. You could always work two job as well (Thats how I got through college)
It all comes down to what is driving you to work (and I don't mean what kind of car you go to work in...)?

Yes you can,

I have a in-law that worked for Micky D for 5 years and then got into a training program and today owns 5 Burger Kings. He learned his trade at Mc D's but went to BK because of the shoe in he got from being a full time manager of a store.

His wife is a stay at home grandmother now with two kids to play with and care for as her Daughter works for the family business as a book keeper/ manager. She will have her own store in a few years with her own money too, so yes it can be done.

If you are a manager, possibly you could make enough to pay rent and if you eat there, your food bills would be low. The average worker would make below poverty level, so you could make a living if you have a spouse who supplements that income with their own job, or if you live at home and don't have to worry about paying rent. It should be more of a "stepping stone" job, where you work there while you go back to school to get a better education/job in the end. Its like Walmart, you could barely barely get by with what you make there, but it would be ok as a stepping stone job. I suggest figuring out how to get a better job if you want to live an "average" life, instead of "below average/struggling" life.
p.s. McDonalds job paid for my braces and 1st year of college!

I have been working there for over 2 years and yes you can. I am not making a living there because I live with my parents and I go to school. but Some managers are working there to make a living. but I do have to say some of them don't have cars and lives in a poor house with like 3 to 5 children.

No. It would be difficult to make a living without living paycheck to paycheck if you work at McDonald's.

However, there is nothing wrong with working a job if you need money, or until you can find a better job.

And don't forget to avoid all the fried food.

Well it depends on what your definition of "a living" is. If you want to go on vacation to Europe every year well then no but if you want to have a small house and a Honda sure. It also depends on the cost of living where you are at. But a manager at a Micky D's makes around 40k a year once again this depends on where you live.

Only if you want to mooch off of taxpayers and float on welfare & food stamps...

I suggest working there while you go to college, then find a "real" job around graduation time... The real world's rough, but... It's better than Ronald McDonald's hell for the rest of your life, constantly smelling like nasty, greasy food.

Best of luck to you!

You won't scratch out a decent living working under the golden arches, but you will eat. They pay poverty level wages. I suggest going to the unemployment office and asking what jobs they can find for you that pay a living wage. Best of luck.
