Will we have to have it at all times? Will we be stopped and have to show our papers at the whim of some police officer?
No one HAS to have a driver's license. They just choose not to drive. But will we HAVE to have a national ID card? Will we have to show it every time we get health care, or get a job, or buy anything?
This is getting to be pretty scary stuff. We're supposed to be individuals, not slaves of the state.

Depends on which day of the week it is.
On one hand it could be a good thing to help sort out registered voters from those from the graveyard and those that are here legally and those not.
On the other hand it could open a whole bucket of worms.
