That brings back some memories. Had a boyfriend who had one and took some photos of me on it to send to a magazine and I was slightly undressed shall we say. OMG that was long ago. How embarassing. Did I say that out loud?

yep. had a 1931 Indian scout 45. nice machine. My first bike. I worked in an Indian motorcycle shop.. Paid 75.00 for it. rebuilt engine, new paint job, the works. great machine. It was just as good as a Harley. the shift and clutch was opposite from Harley. when the war came along, Indian fell by the wayside because they did not have the lime of accessories that Harley. That was what kept Harley from going under too. Too bad the new Indian was so overpriced. Loved mine. I saw no vibration in them any more than a Harley.

Oh, yes....not that I rode one, but my Dad had an Indian, thought, by his own admission, he was a hot shot, stood on the seat while passing a HS girls academy, took a nasty tumble in front of all the gals...he laughs about it, but I can just imagine the humiliation of a teen trying to impress the girls!
Indian has had several "risings from the dead," the latest about 8 or so years ago, but just could not compete with the Harley/Japanese crowd, so died again. I doubt we will see them again.
The old Indians had a flat head twin, shook and shuddered like an unbalanced washing machine...I have been on one antique, it started and ran, but it did vibrate the hell out of me. It may have just been that cycle, but my Dad says they did vibrate a lot.

Great story! We feed the good wolf by doing the good things such as: 1. Being good and joyful every day of our life. 2. Being peaceful, by doing things that bring peace and learning to ponder. 3. Being loving instead of hateful at the moment of decision 4. Seeing the glass half full and not half empty thus helping us to feel hopeful, serene, and generous 5. Serving others everyday. Pray for opportunities to help others. It doesn't have to be big or hard. Sometimes a listening ear, a kind word, or a smile is really what is needed.

THere were a few in our town...but Harley ruled.
If you want to see a good film about those wonderful old machines, rent the film "The World's Fastest Indian" with Anthony Hopkins. A wonderful, quiet "little" film that didn't enjoy commercial success but appealed to a certain audience.
I loved it.

My father had an Indian which was very rare as we live in England, but his two loves (apart from my mother) were a huge Ariel square four, and a Brough Superior.
