Steering will be more difficult in certain situations, for example parking or turning into parking spaces. However, for most driving conditions in town and especially on the road you will notice little difference between a power steering vehicle and no power steering. It will take a while for you to get really smooth with the transmission, but after awhile you'll be very comfortable with it. If the vehicle is in good condition, you should have no issues after a short time. Hey vehicles never had PS and AT until the early 60s. Good luck!

obviously some of those who have answered the question are not familiar with manual steering.. If the truck did not come with power steering from the factory.. it will not be difficult for you to steer it.. if it came with power steering but the unit went out then it will be next to impossible to steer.. before power steering was invented, all cars, pickups and even the large trucks were easily steered.. it just had to be moving a little for it to be really easy.. you can drive it and do quiet well.. it just takes a bit of learning.. about thirty minutes should do it.. good luck

There's a way to partially beat this issue. Remove the power steering pump and install open fuel filters to both lines so that the curcuit can breathe as you turn the steering wheel. You'll need to buy a shorter crankshaft, waterpump and alternator belt. Or go to a auto-retirement home and pick up a used PS pump. New re-manufactured ones are less than $100.00.

the manual trans is no problem but it takes time to master and the power stearing can be hard if your standing still but usually when your moving it's not to bad but you can also buy an after market kit for power stearing, that would be a good project for you and your dad. hope this helps and fun doen some burn outs

Learning standard is hard enough. You better hope if has a feelable clutch, or it'll be hard as crap.
Without power steering my MONTE CARLO took two ARMS to turn the corner when it died. And I'm no stick figure...
