I just bought plane tickets for orlando florida, for christmas for my boyfriend. were going to go in may 2008 for our 3 year anniversary. I already have reservations for the hotel because i work at a hotel and got a really good weekly rate, considering were going to be there for 8 days. what are some must-see's of orlando? also where are some good restuarants at reasonable prices? no chain restaruants such as olive garden or applebees please.

thanks

Must-sees and restaurants huh? Besides all of the Disney attractions you should check out downtown Disney/Pleasure Island/Westside, lots of great places to eat. Of course everyone has a different idea of what is reasonable but the tip here is most restaurants serve large portions so don't go overboard on the appetizers and ala carte items. If your staying near Disney try the Crossroads area, lots of great places to dine. If your into seafood try the Crabhouse, they offer a nice buffet. For a preview here is a link from the Orlandoweekly to give you an idea of what else is available, trust me you won't run out of places to dine. http://www.orlandoweekly.com/dining/

Disney is actually a great place for adults without kids too. Most people think it's just for kids. If that was the case why do they cater to several weddings every day at the parks? In fact you can enjoy some of the great dining available (especially at EPCOT) the fireworks at Magic Kingdom can be very romantic.
I would spend a day at Universal too, for more "grown-up" rides.
If you let the cast member (Disney employee) know you are celebrating your anniversary I can guarantee you will get some kind of special treatment, surprise. They go out of their way to make special events even more special.

Must see's would be Disney, Universal, Sea world for the them-park crowd. it would be Wekiva State Park or Blue Springs state park for the nature lovers. Daytona Beach or Cocoa Beach for the touristy beach, Playalinda for the pristine secluded beach.

Restaurants:
Le Coq Au Vin - Country French institution for 30 years (Corner of Orange Ave and Gatlin).

The Thorton Park Neighborhood. Just East of Lake Eola Park in Downtown Orlando centered at Summerlin and Washington is a half a dozen local bistros of all types, (Italian, Sushi, Seafood, Bar-b-que, several wine-bar restaurants, at least one Tappas bar) all with outdoor seating and none chains.

Another Favorite: Bravissimo, Shine Avenue a few blocks from Thornton Park.

The Mills/Colonial neighborhood has a cluster of Vietnamese/Thai/Asian restaurants all quite good and modestly priced.
