ok so i keep forgeting this....

well what is 5 1/2 in * 2 1/2in???
tell me how you did it

i know that 5*2=10 and 1/2*1/2= 0.25

but what is 5 1/2* 2 1/2?

you change the mixed number to improper fraction and multiply them

5 1/2 = 11/2 and 2 1/2 = 5/2
so 11/2 * 5/2 = 55/4 = 13 3/4

Change the mixed numbers to improper fractions.

5 1/2 = 11/2
2 1/2 = 5/2

11/2 * 5/2 = 55/2 = 27.5

2.5 = 5/2
11/2 * 5/2 = 55/4
