For 2 years, I have been renovating my house. My 8 year old daughter & I were not living in this house during the work. We moved back in the week school started in August. Ever since my child was 3, she's been friends with this little girl, who was being raised by her grandparents (who are very respected members of this community & a really great couple, too), while the child's mother was in drug rehab. While we weren't living in our house, the "mother's" parents bought the house directly across the street from me for their daughter & grandchild. When their daughter got out of rehab, she & her daughter moved in. When I 1st met the mother, she let something slip. She said something to the effect that "oh right, I still have to work on my man problem". She immediately allowed a guy to move in with her & has had a steady stream of boyfriends do the same, since. This latest one is the most scary. I don't have the space to continue my question. Will have 2 begin new thread

Sorry. I didn't know I could add to this & I ran out of space. This was my 1st question ever so I continued it with a 2nd question, that begins the same way. I would really appreciate your comments on that one. Same question w/ "cont'd" by the side & about 5 minutes later.

I would have to agree with all of you that it would be none of my business but as I said before, you must not have read my complete question. This question is continued. Once again, I apologize for this being my 1st question, ever here, & not knowing how to do it correctly & yes, I am as guilty as you, because I didn't read the "instructions" 1st.

can only guess at problems but steady stream of boy friends and rehap paint a picture.
your daughter and her freind need each other and you can be a positive influence on the other little one.
yhou can also use this to teach tolerance and that other people have lifestyles that aren't healthy and because you love her so much you are teaching her a healthy lifestyle.

if she was in rehab, could there be a conviction? is there a parole/probation officer? does she have to do drug screening?

please do not punish the other little girl because she was born to a poor mother.

What should you do about her? Nothing, if she isn't causing trouble in the neighborhood there's nothing you can do about it, everybody can bring whoever they want into their house. It's her own business. What it is on your interest is your daughter who I believe shouldn't visit this neighbors' house. If she is a close friend with the neighbor's daughter, allow her to see her only at your house. Don't let your daughter visit that house especially when this new bf seems bad.

No doubt your neighbor is strange, but it's not really your business. Allow your daughter to visit her friend when she goes to visit the grandparents next to you. Go talk to the mother you met and have a talk with her about your concerns, it might help, it might cause problems. Do go talk to the grandparents and have a talk with them about your concern too. You might be worried about nothing, there might be something going on, but try not to make a big deal about it and don't start problems, try to come to reasonable understandings.

what exactly is she doing? Don't let the knowledge that she was in rehab sway your opinion of her. Is the child being cared for? Remeber that people have different lifestyles. Hers may be different from yours but that doesn;t make it bad.
