I had my first measurement taken today and the doc said I'm measuring about 2-3 weeks ahead. This is just by measuring the outside of my belly. What exactly does this mean? I was never ahead with my daughter so this is new to me.

an external measurement can be off for all kinds of different reasons. you could have a bit more fluid filling out your uterus or even a full bladder will push your uterus upward. Its nothing to worry about unless it gets worse

that's why you do not go by belly measurements, especially with a second or third child. Those tissues stretch out very readily after the first baby, frankly, I'd find another ob gyn, if he thought that measuring your belly meant anything.

I would not worry about it. I measured "big" too and my daughter weighed 7lb 6oz. My doctor was telling me that I was going to have a big baby and even ordered another ultrasound.

Everyones different-doctors dont know everything.

it is NORMAL to measure larger when you have had a baby already, he should have explained this....its like the uterus just knows what to do and grows quicker, closer to term it will be more exact....good luck on your baby! and quit worrying mama...everything is gonna be fine!
