the treaty of Versailles had unreasonable demands for reparations to France and Britain, and the resulting economic depression created massive unrest. this was temporarily put off by American loans to stabilize the Weimar Republic in Germany in the Dawes plan. When the Loans were called in, due to the great depression putting the American banks in a VERY bad position the resulting economic collapse led to the era of civil war and radicalism that led to Adolf Hitler's eventual rise to power. That coincidentally is the same era that beer became very popular in Euro peon culture. It is my opinion that many a regime was born out of sheer drunkenness. There were a couple of legitimate ones too however.
