I'd seek the ability to go on with life for the sake of others. I cannot imagine losing one of my children or grands to killing and fear I'd just fall apart and never recover. I would want justice if the killing was intentional. I'm not a big enough person, I think, at this point to seek forgiveness...but it would be nice to be like that.

Seeking revenge would only hurt me. It would depend on the situation though. If someone deliberately kills another, I think there should be some type of justice for what they have done. If it's an accident, like when someone turned on the belt in the coal mine tipple and my dad was killed, then forgiveness is the only choice. In the end, it's the only choice that I can live with, in any case.

Edit: For those who've lost loved ones, my deepest sympathy.

I think I may be the wrong person to ask, having been shot, at point blank range, twice in the head, 1982 during a car jacking. There is a long story involved as to what happened later, let's just say that although I am not Sicilian, I may have inherited some genes from same. And in this case, justice and revenge seemed very akin to each other. The police certainly thought so. Peace and love, Goldwing

well knowing how I react emotionally about those I love, I would say I would seek revenge---or that is the first emotion I would have.....I would want them to pay and or suffer.......After I calmed down and time had set in, I would want justice to be served......and I know I would have to forgive, it is something I would have to work on, but I know it is something I would need to do, so that I can move on in life and that life ever after......I would never forget, but would forgive.........not sure if this is what you were looking for, but I would seek all 3 or atleast feel them.........

My brother in law's brother....who was also a very close friend...was murdered a number of years ago. This person came into his home looking for money, and killed Larry when he woke up. It was witnessed by their oldest son. Yes, we wanted justice. Don't know even now if there has ever been forgiveness by the family......the closest I can describe it is acceptance.

Actually, I had a relative that was murdered by someone that she knew. The killer was eighteen years old. What a waste.

I would "hope" that I could find the love in my heart to forgive the person.
I know that revenge would not bring them back and it would only make one's heart bitter.
As for justice, is there really any true justice in this world as we know it?

I am so sorry for your loss.

Had it happen. Can't get revenge. Justice system is a joke. Two people murdered and only got 10 years. OOPs but he got 3 squares a day, free room and board and took a whole pile of courses to better his education all on our tax dollars! I think the victims family should be able to have him put in a room with all of us and face the music. Eye for an eye.....

Hopefully justice. But I would have to have someone keep me from seeking revenge. Ever see the movie ''A Time To Kill''?

Well I don't do any thing as I believe in what goes around comes around. I might be angry at them for a long time for what they did, but I would still let nature take it's course on the matter. As who ever it was that did the killing IS also someone elses family. I look at it from their side as well. Such as if it were you kin that killed someone, how would you feel about them. Like your mom, dad, brother, sister, son, daughter, etc. What would you want done to your own family member should they kill someone?

Primarily, I would seek justice, but for me, justice would include revenge. I do believe in capital punishment. Turning the other cheek gets painful after a while -- you only have four.
