Read Michel Foucault's ''The History of Sexuality''. It's a very readable and informative history of sexuality that covers the development and cultural representation of all forms of sexuality. His writing on the development of homosexuality from ancient times to now is very interesting and you will realise how the very idea of homosexuality did not begin to even appear until the 19th century. Prior to that, the concept itself did not exist and people looked at same sex intercourse as a single event, not some form of ongoing sexual proclivity.

Back during the Roman times there was no such thing as homos, hetero, triangle or rectangle. The men can sleep with whom they feel like sleeping with, though the women mostly did not get this privilege. Julius Caesar also note that he also had affairs with men, and was not ashamed. Though the Romans were lets say very sexually active. Phallus sculptures can be found as artworks outside even for the children to see. As for man on man action, the older or higher class guy would usually do the *******. The Romans were very open minded and too me more advance in accepting people...look at how we shunned gays these days while hundreds of years before they were able to find tolerance. Their culture I guess was different, though this age of tolerance did not last very long even during the Roman times.

As long as organisms with sexual desires and needs for loving companionship have existed, homosexuality has existed.

Let's put it this way: we go clear back to humankind's earliest simian ancestors... (And possibly even before THAT.)

(Homosexuality predates Christianity by literally TENS OF MILLIONS of years - if not HUNDREDS of millions of years - and it will be around long after Christianity has died out like so many other religions before it.)
