The periods thing is always difficult to measure coz it just doesnt have a start and end date. There is nothing normal about timeframes of periods.
Yep gurl it does happen. Your only wondering if its normal because maybe its never been so short on a regular basis befor, but it can be normal.
Remember every womans menstral cycle is different so there really is no normal.

Period changes are normal for girls and young women. It could be that you had a change in diet or became more active lately. If it's shorter and regular periods you want, you can take a soy pill or drink soy milk, which has a natural hormone in it.
It helped me a TON when I was getting my period for 2 weeks straight and again 2 weeks later.

My period became shorter and lighter as I've gotten older. I'm only 24 but I can remember having terrible and long periods from when I was a teenager up until a few years ago. My birth control may have something to do with it or it may just happen as you get older.

When first menstruating, periods generally are not very regular. They may not be regular until you marry and have children, even.
8-10 days is pretty long, so you 'd most likely want them shorter anyway.

some people are irregular and its ok but 8-10 days is pretty long in the first place so you probably want it shorter and if you are worried i would ask a doctor

A way to shorten periods is birth control pills. Periods are really unpredictable sometimes.
