Here is something I've seen done which could be a lot of fun, if your husband is willing to go along with it and he has a sense of adventure. It would take a bit of research on your part and some setting up. Essentially, it's a variation of a treasure hunt. You can make it as simple or as complicated as you like.

What you do is go to various smaller shops in your area that carry items that your husband might like. Smaller shops and specialty shops are probably best so that you can make arrangments with the manager or owner and be sure that your husband will get your gifts and notes. Alternatively, you could recruit friends/relatives to be at the shop (or other location - this would give you more options) when your husband gets there and give him the next clue. (If you can arrange for someone to go with him or arrange what time he starts, you can give your accomplices their windows for when they should be at their stations).

When you go to the shop, purchase your gift. Then arrange for the store to hold the gift for your husband along with a note. If the store will wrap the gift, even better. The note should direct him to the next shop. The message can be simple, or a puzzle of some sort that he has to figure out.

As for the gifts, they can just be things your husband has indicated he would like, or you could make them fit a theme leading up to the final gift (example - luggage, clothes, tickets to an event in a distant city, appropriate equipment for the event, plane & hotel reservations to leave that evening). Use your main gift to decide what the other gifts need to be if you're doing the theme hunt. If you can keep him guessing what the gifts have to do with each other or why you would be giving them to him (getting him one of those hats with the beer holders, for example, if your final gift is tickets to a hot sporting event), so much the better - making sure everything falls into place when he gets the final gift. You can mix up cheap/tacky and expensive/quality this way and still get him a complete package.

The first note should be left at home, or you can start it with a phone call directing him to the first shop - whichever you think he will follow up on. The last shop, of course, should be the main gift. You could even scatter clues along the way as to what the final gift will be. Better yet, the last gift doesn't need to be at a shop - it could be a romantic hotel room with dinner for two laid out and you as the last gift (packaged appropriately, of course)!

Wrap the bedroom door in Christmas wrap and a big bow. Put a note on it that says "get nekky and then enter". Have the room full of lit candles, goodies, champagne and you wrapped only in a big bow. Tell him "merry Christmas, I'm your gift." Have toys, lotions, fun stuff. And if you want a nice ring bracelet or necklace, outfit, etc. But give him you. I did that to an old boyfriend and girlfriend, he's STILL talking about it.

Planning a nice getaway for just the two of you is always nice.

You can also do the "12 days of Christmas" where each day you do/make something for him.
Anything from his favorite dessert to a massage. Make everyday about him. Definitely gets him the Christmas spirit.

How about computerized controllers for outdoor Christmas lights.

Come on, we have all seen the video of the lights.

Your hubby would love to be able to do something like that at your house.

Wow the neighbors!
