Person losing all their money.
Person having a whole new set of friends that don't want you to be a part of their lives.
Person disappearing or secluding themselves away from people who love them for long periods of time.
Person showing evidence of sexual and other assault.
Person with strong convictions who suddenly changes their beliefs.
Person who is morally wayward or aimless in life and suddenly is oddly passionate about what they are doing.
Person who talks on and on about someone that they see as a leader, seems to deify that person, seems to put a lot of trust and faith in that person, thinks that person is a BIG answer to everything.
Religious cults are not the only thing that results in these things...sometimes it is a gang or an addiction...cultish in themselves.

When the leader of a group leads people in with friendship and slowly moves toward demanding that the crowd follows his rules without question. I would never have believed I could become involved in a cult, but my daughter and I became ensnared in one a few years ago. I started to pull away when I saw what the leader was doing to his core of people. He would order them to do something that was really totally unreasonable and then read them the riot act in front of the whole congregation when they didnt do things exactly as he wanted. I watched while one lady came close to committig suicide because she felt such shame at disappointing the leader. My daughter finally saw the light and we both had one heck of a time breaking away. They still try to get us to come back. It was way too scary.

When all the members turn up dead because they all drank a lethel dose of lye, thats a pretty good sign
people in cults tend to cut themselvs off compleetly from other people. cults are usually a small group. usually, not always, but usually believe in somethign extreem, for example, the syth deal with absolutes.

Study your Bible and follow it closely.
Cult leaders sway people to do things and think of things that are not Biblical in origin. Usually, cult leaders tell family members how to live and what to do. They use sex to seduce women and children. If a religious leader tries to get you to hand over all of your money, run!!!
Study your Bible and pay close attention to what God and Jesus Christ say. If a religious leader tries to tell you lies, you will know the truth and you will head for the hills!!!
Good luck and may God bless you.
P.S. There are many wolves in sheep's clothing.

wired ceremonies, always together, controlling, if they start wearing robes you might want to run, Common dialogs, pretty much look at any religion and you have a mild form of a cult. Cults take it to a different level though.

People calling you with the wrong number, over, and over, and over, again. Getting the wrong side order at Popeyes, especially if they don't even have it on the menu! Homeless people sleeping in your car, while your at work. No gucamole at Wallmart, ever. Ritualistic jay-walking at 3am on Broadway, and 34th street in Galveston. People walking around in snow shoes, when theres no snow...

Not the truth. Ideas that are obviously made up by human minds. Anything that goes against the Bible.

Major red flags:
-They want you to break all contact from family and friends.
-You move somewhere far from home, or live in a convent/temple area.
-Constant "training" or challenges to your thought proceses.
-An organization that insists you forget all "man-made" rules and laws and focus only on the "family".
-One could say organized religion does a lot of these same things too.... hmm... Food for thought?
