In all honesty, I've never read the book, but my wife has - and she couldn't stand it. Nobody she knows who read the book liked it, for that matter.

I'm just curious - is this assignment for high school or college? That book is pretty heavy (and severe) material for a high school class.

I read the book, very sad. You could approach the book from the standpoint of how the girls death affected not only the victim but her family and friends as well, how they coped or didn't cope, how they reacted to the loss of Suzanne Salmon and how even years later her death gripped an entire community and how even today such events still grip entire communities in the most tragic way.( Re: Samantha Runion)

The Lovely Bones is a very .... deep book. You can look around on the New York Times Review to get good ideas of how to interpret it and .... to present it to a class you could pretend you were the friend of the girl that died. The one she was riding her bike to meet when she got hit?

I read the book; I didnt think it was the best but still interesting in its own way.

I think you should depic the girl who was killed. Make it very dramatic in the telling of her sad story, then relate it to life now and how this still happens.
