i know three people that got their dvms (one dvm, one bsc/dvm, one bsc/dvm/phd) from UC Davis. they liked that school's program. vetrinary programs are competative (well, as with every other program) so, it's good to take bio/chem/math. get a veteterinary technician certification: do a whole bunch of volunteer hours for a clinic, get an undergrad in animal science (well, you don't really have to have a bsc, but it's nice to have if you've got the time), and apply to a veterinary program.
