I need a different way then the running up the stairs one... does standing long jump work?

Be more precise. A good way to measure one kind of human power output uses a stationary bicycle driving a generator. Decide if you want to measure peak or sustained output. Then there's the body's thermal output under various conditions.

Standard demonstration is to time students going up a flight of stairs.

Power = (Force*distance) / time

where force is mass, distance is height of stairs

this gives ft-lbs/second which can be converted to HP
