Because it has never been about security. Cheap labor, secure oil, war profits, and American Empire - that's what its all about.

9-11 was a dream come true for those chicken-hawks and they'd love nothing more for another one to happen so they can declare martial law and expand gitmo to have space for people like me.

It's hard to imagine that after the events of 9/11, we have an estimated 10+ million aliens in this country that are not documented - we don't know who they are, where they are or even how many there are. That is the result of America turning a blind eye to laws which are already on the books, however, there seems to be no relation to this concern and the events of 9/11.
Truth be told - we cannot "terror proof" our country. It would be virtually impossible to provide 100% effective border security across the north and south - let alone from the shores. The sad fact is that if a terrorist wants to enter this country - there are almost a infinite number of ways he could, and it just doesn't make a whole lot of sense to spend billions of dollars just to make it a little harder for him.

Even if the borders of the United States are protected by the soldiers, there will still be terrorist attacks within the borders of the US. Suggest your Government not to go around the world to make enemies but to make friends. Then you don't have to live in fear.

There is no doubt that the Prez sold us out on the border. So did the entire congress...left and right. They are all in bed with the business interests that want the cheap labor. It's really quite disgusting. Fence First! Then we'll work out the details of what to do with all the illegals that are here.

Congress does not have to order troops to be used to protect our borders. That falls under the executive office's national security powers.
Bush wasn't able to get the states to foot the bill and send their national guards there, so he could spend more money in Iraq, so it isn't priority to him.

America is already a democracy that has sold out to big oil, why should Bush bother to protect our borders?

It doesn't make sense at all, and it makes me wonder who is profiting from that. If there were no profits, the borders would be sealed up by now. Something sneaky is going on behind the scenes in our government, because while it's clear action needs to be taken, nothing is being done. There has to be a reason for that. I wish I knew what it was.
I really think it's going to take something terrible, even worse than 9/11 to wake people up from the complacency that seems to be going on right now.

It's politics, and both the left and right are guilty, but for different reasons.

The socialist/left wants everyone to come into the US to accomplish the One World Village vision they have - no nationalism, no religion, no heaven, above us only sky - and overwhelm the capitalism they hate so much.

The capitalist/right wants money profits from cheap labor.

Both have yet to come to grips with the reality that our enemies will eventually slip enough killers in to murder lots of US citizens.

There are cooler heads on both sides, but fanatics tend to mess things up and get their way too often.

It will work out, but not until too many US citizens personally get hurt from the bad ideas that come from overzealous people.

The problem is on our borders, we have to have help from our neighbors. We could pull our troops out and protect our borders, but then, yes, the terrorists would still slip in and then we would be fighting them on our soil instead of there's.

Until the Feds get serious and cut funding to States and Cities for being sanctuary States and Cities, then we can make some headway.

Stop them, arrest them, deport them and be serious about it, we can make a difference.

Because Bush is not concerned about Terrorism. He mentions terrorism to create fear in you.

Bush has always been about making money, and the Iraq War is a classic example of that.

The Iraq war is all about Oil.
