we have to try out for it.i am almost 13 and a half and i am about 5 foot and 7 and half inches tall. i have never played on a basketball team in my life but i have been playing lately with the homies.i practice shooting outside every day.my coach said they are goin have us play a game for try outs,see our ball handling and shooting and bouncing and layups. i admit i cannot lay up.what are my chances of making the team.how can i improve my skills

It takes skills and lots of practice. It might be helpful to get with someone, maybe a friend, who has more experience playing and get them to help you, give you some pointers, etc. But, at the end of the day, it takes skills in order to make the team. Good luck!

uhm.. good if you can do eveything but lay-ups
and never doubt yourself.. if you are good then say that you think you gonna make the team! and honestly 8th grade basketball is mostly about the easy shots soo u have to do lay ups
