What should I ask a racist journalist in an interview?

I am doing an assignment for school on ethnic stereotyping in the media and I may get to interview a journalist who is racist. What sorts of questions should I ask her? I want to understand from her point of view why she thinks it's ok to state racial stereotypes in her articles or to degrade a certain race. How can I state that politely so she doesn't hang up the phone in my face?

Don't directly confront her. Ask what experiences led her to have the POV she has, and also how she views her own work. Ask what is her definition of the word "diversity" and does she see diversity as a good thing or a bad thing.

Be very polite even if she says something that upsets you. Write out your questions ahead of time so you don't get rattled. Thank her politely at the end, "thank you for taking the time to speak with me." That way you are not agreeing with her!
