It is best to go to a professional that focuses his business in doing just this. It is very easy to destroy a *mm film if you don't know what you are doing, plus it will probably need some restorations and recoloring, not to mention the more tapes you have the more chapters you need to set up on your disc to hold them all , so the person needs an editing program. You get what you pay for these days.....

A photo shop.
Most people with 8 mm transferred to videotape years ago, during the VHS era.
VHS is easily converted to video clips playable on a DVD machine.

In Mass. CVS is having a special this week . You bring in your film and they have them copied to dvd.

try looking at some photo shops that offer film developing not the ones in the drug stores are walmart places look for a photo shop

Your best bet would be a local news station. Just make your request and tell them that you'll pay for it.
A community college, media department would be a good start also.

Do a search for a company called integrated imaging. They do what you want.And there are others out there that you mail your film to. Be sure you have tracking when you mail.

the drug store rite aid used to do it. i worked for them for many years and they did it then. check it out.
