The Amber Room from Russia which disappeared during WWII. The treasure of Troy which Schliemann found after years of searching. Both of these are said to have been seized by Hitler and are probably in Germany now. However, after reading of the vast amount of gold in the Troy discovery, I believe that a person would not own the treasure, it would own them. How would you guard something so valuable and vast?

A few years ago I went to the Walters Art Gallery in Baltimore where they had an exhibit on the Scythian culture.
Their gold jewelery and artifacts were fabulous. Headpieces,
necklaces, bracelets, saddle horns, buckles, etc. I would
love to be the archaeologist who found those in a kurgan.
Better yet, I'd love to own them. Interesting question.

Can't think of anything lost, but I would have liked to be the first inside King Tut's tomb, despite the curse!
