My contractor fell through the attic and created a 4x4 hole in the ceiling. He replaced the drywall and did the tapping and joint compond at least three times however I can still see the flashing effect, or the lines of the new drywall. We primed it with Kilz water base and a semi mate at least twice. Have any ideas what the heck the problem is?

you need more mud. It should overlap the patch by 10 to 12 inches on either side of the seam. I would get the contractor back to do the repair

Hmmm? Did he use the same thickness drywall? Did he Feather the Mud in sanding? Did he use Mesh or paper tape? Did he span rafters in the install of the new/patch?

No amount of primer will FIX an improperly attended to job.
