Anything that helps you learn about a subject that your not one hundred percent sure about is helpful.

Unless your trying to learn "how to become a dummy" then I'd say check it out you just might learn something.....I don't believe you can be dumb cuz your a smart little cookie if your reading about anatomy and physiology my friend.

Go get it and do good!

I agree that the anatomy coloring book is a much better choice for studying anatomy. I have had mixed results with "For Dummies" books.

I have "Meditating for Dummies" which is pretty good but I think it sacrifices depth for breadth, like covering every religion's meditations. "Weddings for Dummies" is kind of annoying, since it just says you should plan your wedding however you want to, without any guidelines. I have looked at "Russian for Dummies" and it doesn't even teach the Russian alphabet.

You should look at the reviews it has gotten on Amazon, before you decide to buy it.

You'd be much better off with the real Grey's Anatomy book with the coloring book that comes with it, so you can color as you learn. Really, the more ways you can see it-write it- say it- color it- the better your brain retains it.....a fact, not something I just made up. I have been a RN 37yrs and still keep mine (mostly colored) as my son who is 16yrs old has anatomy questions lots of times just for worldwide reference, and it comes in handy>>>like when I lost my right rotator cuff and now can't DO a lot of things....he can see it and understand why it's so important to take care of.
Another factoid, I won't PAY anyone to call me a DUMMY or any other derrogatory name and I feel that those books do that. I may need to learn some things, but I'm not DUMB! I just refuse to pay them to call me that!

it depends what you want from a book - if you are taking Anatomy and stuff at school, you'd be better off with Gray's Anatomy...but for general interest, you can't beat the Dummies books..I learned to play guitar pretty good from it...I also had the book "The Complete Idiot's Guide" to guitar which is another good franchise...it's more laid back.

Well, I wanted to learn ventriloquism so I bought "Dummies for Dummies"
I found the writing was very wooden.

I have checked some out at the library plus skimmed through some at the bookstore. I did buy one and found it to be very helpful. The author really explains things in a way that is easy to understand even if you are clueless. Hence the name.

Yes - they are a great place to find some useful information on almost any topic. I've used them several times to get a primer on a topic. They give you the basics and some useful details, then you can decide if you want to move into more advanced materials.

Only you will know if the book is beneficial to you. In my opinion, those types of books make the reader feel good immediately then it all wears off as life takes hold and we go right back to our routine again. People write books and songs hoping theirs will become the next chart topper and that it will make them a fortune. It is fairly simple logic.

Generally they get to the core of the subject better than books written by people who have "show off" at the top of their agenda.

They are about as helpful as any other help book. I'd suggest googling whatever you're looking for first, that way you may be able to save yourself 20 dollars.
