ok, so everyone has heard the wedding song canon in D major. its a great song. love it to death. BUT i am very interested if anyone can play this in a minor and if so, please let me hear it. i asked a friend of mine to transpose it to minor on the piano, but he said he didnt want to but said it should be able to be done. if anyone can do this, you would rock my world. keep in mind, this is not the typical song that everyone knows. i did a search for 'canon in d minor' to no avail. please help!!!

As del_icious_manager (I seem to have a thing with agreeing with him...it's weird!) said, Aeroman762002 is wrong. That link is not minor! It's not D major, but it's C major, just transposed down a step. And yes, it's Pachelbel, not Mozart.

It would not be hard at all to transpose it to a minor key, especially since it's so repetitive and doesn't touch on any other keys at all. Just lower the third (which in D major is F sharp) down one half step (to F natural) and lower the 6th and 7th (B and C sharp) down one halp step (to B flat and C natural) unless you want it to be harmonic minor instead of natural minor. If you want harmonic minor, don't lower the 7th.

D natural minor:
D, E, F, G, A, B-flat, C, D

D harmonic minor:
D, E, F, G, A, B-flat, C-sharp, D

Anyway, good luck with your Canon transposing. It'll probably nice to have a variation on the overly known piece!

Aeroman is wrong, I'm afraid. The version on the link is the standard D MAJOR version and it IS by Pachelbel (although not Mozart - which just seems to be a default name YouTube and iTunes attaches to ANY classical music where the composer is not listed clearly). The piece is the Canon in D (one 'n' rather than a big gun with two 'nn's)

It is quite possible to play the Canon in D minor by shanging the key signature from D major (2 sharps) to D minor (one flat) but I have never heard it done. You never know, it might improve it a bit!!

Is it a string quartet? It would help to know, but here are some suggestions: Mozart - Clarinet Concerto (allegro) Mozart - Violin Concerto #3 (allegro) Mozart - Horn Concerto #2(rondo) You can also have them play music from broadway musicals like : "Think of Me" from Phantom of the Opera "Some Enchanted Evening"- South Pacific "One Hand, One Heart" - West Side Story "There's a Place for Us" - West Side Story Also, you can get sheet music for almost any song on the radio. I would go to a local music store that sells sheet music or search online for Quartet sheet music.
