I am reading only what you said and I agree with you. I remember when I was your age and the same thing was true then all the older ones thought they knew it all just because they were older and around longer. IT IS NOT TRUE. They don't know it all there may be some that have lived such that they gained wisdom in their years however there are young people the have made the some gains in a shorter time.
Bottom Line: wisdom only comes to those that have earned it through the trials that they have been through. but it does not mean they are the wiser. Don't forget the cemetery is full of wise man or so they thought.

Knowledge is the data one knows;
Intelligence is how much data one knows compared to one's peers at the same age;
Wisdom is the ability to use the knowledge one has.
So, yes, with age comes wisdom. That is NOT saying that an older person knows more; it IS saying that that older person is wiser than when he was younger, with the implication that you will be wiser when you are older.
It is NOT a motto; it is a saying. A motto is similar to a credo; your life goal/belief/whatever.
A saying is something that people say over and over again because it (apparently) reflects life.
Back to the "With age comes wisdom" there are many factors that affect this. Basically, they are saying an older person has more experience in life and has learned not to poke his hand into the fire, that sort of thing; but, don't forget, older people become more forgetful (not counting Alzheimer's, etc.)

Nothing teaches like experience and at 21 you haven't experienced even a 1/4 of what life throws at you. With age comes wisdom...but only if you learn from the experience of aging and don't keep making the same mistakes over and over. Fortunately, most people do learn as they age thus the saying is generally true.

I'd have to agree with you all the way. Their are some older people who are very immature while their are some younger ones who are really intelligent in a lot of different aspects. Wisdom comes in many different ways, age isn't one of them. I don't think that's something that should be set in stone. Don't get me wrong though, I do believe as you get older you can get wiser, because your going through more and learning more through daily life. This doesn't mean that someone older MUST be wiser than someone younger, just means their knowledge has increased. I really like this question, made me think.

Yes with age does come wisdom. Realize that no experience is the same as another, let alone in another persons life. I'm not validating them telling you they know better and you should do this. As I said each experience is different. However they have gone through the same things you have experience, case in point puberty. Do you think someone who is 12 years old has the knowledge or the wisdom to understand completely what is happening to their body? Of course not, but I'm sure you could probably explain it pretty well. Why? Because you went through it.

With age comes EXPERIENCE. Some people use their experiences in life to gain wisdom and insight. Some just plod along learning nothing and caring less.
But at the age of 21 you are hardly in a position to judge anyone regarding "wisdom." You've got a long way to go and hopefully you will learn a lot before you are 30.

I don't think that it is necessarily true.Some people go through their entire life and never seem to get any smarter.They repeat the same mistakes, try to take shortcuts to get to where they are going in life and seem to be without focus.Some people are wise beyond their years.Often you hear about young children facing terminal illness and they have learned to appreciate every day.Somehow they try to face life with courage and hope.Sometimes, age just means we are getting older and have learned to give ourselves different priorities.Perhaps that is a little bit of wisdom some people never learn over time.,setting priorities in life.How many years do we rush to grow up and wish we had slowed down a bit to enjoy our youth.Some wisdom comes too late.I guess that if we learn nothing else we should be wise enough to enjoy the day and have hope for tomorrow.

With experience comes wisdom. So even though some people get older, they don't go out of their way to learn anything new, change their beliefs, or have experiences that may cause them to change their mind about something (gain wisdom). You can be 80 and very unwise, or 25 and very wise. Being open to new ideas is key.

I am nearly three times your age and do not necesarily believe age automatically equates with wisdom. However, when I was your age I believed I knew just about everything. As I got older, I discovered how little I did know. Perhaps that is some kind of wisdom after all.
