USGS said that there's a 5-10% chance of having a 6.4 or bigger earthquake in the following 7 days [since the 5.6], it's not to happen though :) But they said that it could add stress to other faults, like the Hayward & Calaveras fault zone. According to USGS, an earthquake is coming nearer and nearer from the Hayward fault b/c roughly every 140 years, an earthquake strikes. The last earthquake that struck from Hayward was in the 1800's.
I find this interesting and scary at the same time >~<
Now is the time to prepare! A wake up call people! xD
Make a plan! find out more info at the USGS website (just google and it'll come riight up ;]
Buy a first aid kit, 'cause I am :D

Well, I live In Dublin and there is an earthquake safety store. There you can get tents, emergency food, water, and lights/radios. There are priced at a very good rate and have critical things needed for earthquake safety. I bought from them today( a crank flashlight/radio for $15!). Hope this helps

Usually, a quake as big as 5.6 is not a fore-shock to a bigger quake. Also, in checking the USGS website, they said that the chance for another quake of noticeable size was less than 30%

And certainly, it's nothing to panic over...But good for you for wanting to put together a plan for potential disaster. One of the links below has a booklet on planning for trouble.

I don't think anyone can predict an earthquake, they just happen, that fast, I would have lots of water stored, toilet paper etc. food that can be stored on the shelf, a camp stove, warm blankets, first aid kit, warm clothing etc. and maby a tent. keep you gas full, if you can at all times. if ya live in the san jose area, your local fire dept should have info for you
