If that person has the right connections, they absolutely can get you something. It may or may not be much and depending on the writer's strike it may not turn into anything but yes you may get something because of who you know.

Hey, nepotism runs rampant. You may as well take advantage.

What you have is help in opening a door. What happens after that is up to you. No one is going to risk their reputation in what must be the most highly competitive industry on the planet just to be a nice guy. You have to be able to deliver.

The whole thing about who you know vs. what you do is misunderstood. Typically you meet a lot of people on your way up the ladder. Some of those people continue to climb. Some of them remain friends. It's fun to work with friends. So is it important who you know? Yes, but it's not nearly as bleak as it's usually made out to be. And even friends aren't going to let you suck on their set.

Not always because alot of times you do need to use your own knowledge to get where you need to go!! But then again 100 % of the time you will need to know someone!! Alot of people get things because of the connections that they have like my teachers daughters get backstage passes to a Hannah Montana concert because the dancing school they go to...Hannah Montana's Back up dancers attend that same exact school!! So yes it is who you know!!

Having a good connection in the business will help you get your foot in the door, but from then on, it will be your talent which helps you to succeed. Good luck. I hope it helps get you where you want to be.

Unfortunately it is who you know and NOT about talent. That is what created today's pop culture- things like Paris Hilton and Jamie Lynne Spears.
